Overview

Window Glass Design is a web application that determines the load resistance of glass in buildings using the ASTM E1300-16 Standard Practice for Determining the Load Resistance of Glass in Buildings. It is assumed that the users of this web application have competency to understand how to calculate and apply the information provided herein to determine load resistances of glass in buildings using Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16.

The features of this web application include:

  • Load Resistance calculations based on the basic method in Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16
    • Rectangular single glazed monolithic annealed glass and laminated annealed glass fabricated with PVB interlayer, simply supported on 4, 3, 2, and 1 side(s)
      • All sizes and nominal thickness designations in Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16
    • Rectangular symmetric double Insulating Glass Units (IGUs) simply supported along all four sides
      • Monolithic Annealed Glass
        • All sizes and nominal thickness designations in Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16
        • Uses glass type factors and load share factors based on the cubes of the thicknesses from the basic method in Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16
    • Allows Long and Short Duration Loads
    • Restricts the Glazing Angle to Vertical Glass Only
  • Produces a PDF report describing the load resistance and approximate center of deflection based on the Standard Practice ASTM E1300-16
